The Debutant Prize 2026

Stop by Vejle Kunstmuseum for a relaxed, indoor evening where two local debut authors read from their new books while the jury explains their picks. It’s completely free with no booking needed, and the casual drop-in format works well for teens and adults who enjoy literature. Just arrive a bit early to grab a seat before the special guest appears. Note: This event is likely in Danish only.
At the festive award ceremony, which takes place this year at Vejle Kunstmuseum, you can meet the two happy winners and hear them read from their debut works, while the rigorous but highly competent jury explains their choice of the two prize recipients.
The festivities will be kicked off by Dan Arnløv, chair of the Culture and Sports Committee, and Mette Strømgaard Dalby, head of the library. After that, we will, as always, be joined by a special guest. Who it will be will be announced on this page as the date approaches.

About the prize and the jury Numerous literary talents have kickstarted their writing careers with the Bodil og Jørgen Munch-Christensens debutantpris, and once again this year the jury is ready to name the two most talented debutants of the year and award each of them 50,000 DKK.
The jury consists of literature professor Anne-Marie Mai, literary critic Lars Bukdahl, high school teacher Rasmus Storm, librarians Else Zakarias and Joan Høeg from Vejle Bibliotekerne, and foundation board member Marie Mygind Bojsen.
