Steve Poltz is not the type of artist you easily get into a studio with. But when producer Dex Green invited him over to East Nashville "just to make some music," it resulted in the album JoyRide.
The result is ten songs without filters, seatbelts, or a predetermined route – exactly what you would expect from the Canadian-American singer-songwriter.
On JoyRide, Poltz blends sharp observations, quirky humor, and strong melodies with stories about everything from news and love to Jesus, new tattoos, and a brand new liver.
The album includes the title track "JoyRide," "Petrichor," "Love a Little Bigger," and Poltz's own personal favorite, "Fixin' Up."
Steve Poltz helped found the indie-rock band The Rugburns and co-wrote the mega-hit "You Were Meant for Me" with Jewel.
But on JoyRide, he is primarily himself: spontaneous, funny, musical, and wonderfully unpredictable.
Alpaca Red: Alpaca Red is debuting with the single "Konnichiwa," which will be released on May 29th.
Behind the project is the Aarhus-based, Danish/New Zealand artist Nikolai Ryan, who with "Konnichiwa" introduces a sonic universe where the intimate meets the cinematic. The song leans into a slacker-inspired and understated bedroom pop/rock sound before opening up into a grand outro with wide synth textures, like a scene from a movie where you drive away with tears in your eyes.
The single is based on the feeling of losing yourself and slowly finding your way back. The title "Konnichiwa" becomes a moment of recognition, a greeting to the person you one day see in the mirror and can finally meet again.
"Konnichiwa" is a story about holding onto your dreams, even when everything feels uncertain, and marks the beginning of Alpaca Red.

Penny: Penny is an emerging artist on the Danish indie/folk scene. She welcomes you with her charming and whimsical stories, conveyed through her crystal-clear voice. She creates a lyrical world rooted in warmth and groundedness, but constantly challenged by enchanting, unfulfilled thoughts and a thirst for adventure.
Penny draws musical inspiration from traditional songwriting traditions, blending them with the sounds of the magnificent Nordic nature. In her storytelling, she draws on personal accounts that unfold vulnerably, present, and sometimes with a slightly crooked smile on her lips.
