The Scottish folk-rock band Skerryvore is returning to Denmark in November, visiting five of the country's best venues.
The band is currently more popular than ever. In addition to headlining the summer's Tønder Festival, fans can look forward to new material at the beginning of the autumn, when Skerryvore releases their 10th album. The release comes three years after the successful Tempus, which cemented their position as one of the most prominent and popular exponents of modern folk-rock.
Skerryvore combines the raw energy of the Highlands with the American roots tradition. Led by frontman Alec Dalglish, the band has created a distinctive sound that effortlessly blends traditional Scottish folk music with elements from country, pop, rock, and cajun. This dynamic style has opened the door to the otherwise difficult-to-access American market, where the band - like in Europe and Australia - is experiencing growing popularity.
Comparisons to legendary band Runrig are inevitable, and Skerryvore has now taken on the role of one of the most unifying and energetic bands on the Scottish scene. Tempus was a big success in the British Isles, where the album spent three weeks at number one on the Scottish Top 40 and simultaneously reached 19th place on the English charts.
In Denmark, the band is something special to the audience. Since brothers Daniel Gillespie and Martin Gillespie founded the band in 2005, they have built a loyal fanbase that has repeatedly created the conditions for sold-out concerts at Danish venues.
