Join Vejle Library and Lene & Peter for a Poetry and Song Café at Farveriet, celebrating Jeppe Aakjær's 160th birthday with music, readings, and stories. Free event, but registration is required. Great for adults. Indoor venue; bring drinks if you like. Note: This event is likely in Danish only.
Vejle Library and the song duo Lene Oustrup and Peter Lorenzen invite you to a special edition of the Poetry and Song Café at Farveriet. On the day Jeppe Aakjær would have turned 160 years old, he is celebrated as both the poet of the heath and the hometown, but also as a provocateur and social commentator. The evening features stories about his life and works – including the books that helped change the perception of the tenant's conditions – accompanied by music and readings. The event is the fourth meeting in a new community with a focus on songs and stories. With a house band, but also the opportunity to contribute yourself.
It is free to participate, but please be kind to register.
About the Poetry and Song Café The Poetry and Song Café is a collaboration between Vejle Library and the musical duo Lene and Peter. Here, song and music, poetry and stories meet in a cozy setting – with changing themes, short presentations, musical interludes and the opportunity to sing along. The audience can both listen and contribute with song, poetry or story by prior arrangement.
You are welcome to bring drinks to the evenings. When the café later moves into the new Cultural House, it will also be possible to use the house's café facilities.
About Lene and Peter The song duo Lene and Peter has since 2007 entertained with song and music throughout most of the country. They have previously performed under the names Viser i Vinden and Drachmanns Venner, but now call themselves simply Lene and Peter. Their musical collaboration is based on a broad and lively repertoire, where both older and newer songs find a place side by side. They move from the serious to the humorous, from the sorrowful to the cheerful – always with a love for telling stories about the songs and placing them in a larger context.
