Join one of Denmark’s finest jazz pianists on a journey into the unknown as we once again set out on a shared forest walk into Marielundskoven. Together with his band New Ground, Lars Fiil—whom you likely know best from I Think You’re Awesome—creates beautiful soundscapes that are equal parts atmospheric jazz, neoclassical music, and ambient.
It’s music that seamlessly blends the acoustic with the electronic, telling stories with great artistic range with every single note. With a rare touch for beautiful melodies, they play dreamy jazz whose refined rhythms resonate with everyone who listens. It is simply evocative music, as if made to be played deep in a forest. So—as one reviewer wrote—dear audience: Go ahead!
The concert in Marielundskoven is Jazz6000’s sixth event under the series name Jazz i skovens dybe, stille ro. Previously, major jazz acts such as Hvalfugl, Bremer/McCoy, Svaneborg Kardyb, Martin Fabricius Trio, and Gustaf Ljunggren and Emil de Waal have played to full houses at what is arguably Kolding’s most beautiful jazz venue.

About Lars Fiil: As a bandleader, Lars Fiil has released seven albums. His debut album, Reconsideration (2011), was nominated for a Danish Music Award Jazz, and since then he has released albums with his internationally recognized projects Frit Fald and Fiil Free, among others. He is also known for his role as pianist in the indie-jazz group I Think You’re Awesome, with whom he has toured worldwide. His compositions on New Ground have earned him a nomination for Carl Prisen as Jazz Composer of the Year 2024.
Where does the concert take place? The concert takes place in Marielundskoven at Skovløberhuset, located on Troldhedestien.

Additional practical information: If the sun is shining, the concert will take place on the newly established open forest terrace at Skovløberhuset. If the weather is less favorable, the concert will be held directly in front of Skovløberhuset. Since the concert takes place in nature, we recommend bringing your own blankets, umbrella, and similar items to ensure a great concert experience, regardless of the weather on the day.
Food and drinks cannot be purchased on site, but you are more than welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages. We’ll take care of the great sound for your ears.
