This indoor sensory reading session uses sounds, scents, and textures to bring a mermaid story to life, making it a solid pick for families with young kids. It’s free, but you’ll need to book a ticket for your child early since seating is limited. Expect about 35 minutes of storytelling followed by a quick craft where you make a little sea creature to take home.
This time, we will dive together into the poetic picture book 'Ø' by Anna Jacobina Jacobsen. Here, we will experience the story with our senses – seaweed, sand, the song of conch shells, the music of the sea, the scent of flowers, the structure of plants, and a morning drink.
The reading experience lasts approximately 35 minutes. Afterward, you can make your own little magical sea creature to take home.
Free admission. There are only a few seats available, so please book a ticket if you want to be sure of getting a spot. Only children need a ticket.
About the book On an overgrown island filled with trees that stretch their branches and crowns toward the sky, a little girl sleeps in a treehouse in one of the trees. She wakes up, eats breakfast, and opens a can of sardines. Inside the can lies a little mermaid girl – and a magical friendship begins.
What is Mærk historien? Mærk historien is a sensory reading experience for children and their adults. The children's librarian selects a story that we read together. Along the way, we transform the tale into a 4D experience: we add sounds, tastes, scents, and feelings that bring the story out of the book and into the body.
The reading experience lasts approximately 35 minutes. After the reading, we invite you to a creative activity related to the day's story.
