Bring the Hidden Creatures to Life
Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 13:00 - 14:00
Think of this as a spooky-autumn nature walk where your 6-9 year old helps "awaken" old folklore creatures like nixies and trolls through storytelling, drama, and little tasks. It's outdoors, lasts about an hour, and you meet at the Children's Library in Bryggen. It's free, but you do need to book a ticket ahead of time — and since it's a walk in nature, bring proper shoes and rain gear just in case. Note: This event is likely in Danish only.
In autumn, around the time of Halloween, it is said that the veil between the world of the living and the hidden creatures briefly disappears. In selected places in and around Vejle and Børkop, evidence has been found that the hidden creatures have been active. This year, the whole family can join the swamp witch on a walk in nature, where you can meet some of the forgotten creatures of old folklore, such as the nixie, the will-o'-the-wisp, and the troll.
The creatures have been dormant for many years, but now you might be able to awaken them and help them. Often, they need the help of humans. The tour takes place outdoors and includes storytelling, drama, and small tasks to be solved together, and lasts approximately 1 hour. We meet at the Children's Library in Bryggen.
For children aged 6-9 and their adults. Free admission - remember to book a ticket.
