AySay is a band that unites Anatolian folk traditions and Nordic electronics through lead singer Luna Ersahin's roots. In Turkish, Kurdish, and Danish, they create a psychedelic space where boundaries dissolve, and only the raw human experience remains – a place between hope and despair. AySay's music celebrates diversity and builds bridges between cultures, making them a prominent voice on the global music scene.
With Luna's captivating and powerful vocals in the front and the virtuoso musicians Aske Døssing Bendixen and Carl West Hosbond at her side, AySay creates a musical universe that moves the listener from the Nordic landscapes to the heart of Anatolia. By combining traditional instruments like the saz with modern pop and electronic elements, AySay creates an innovative sound universe that breaks genres and gathers worlds.
Musical Recognition AySay's journey has been marked by great recognition – they have received four Danish Music Awards Roots, including: • Album of the Year for Su Akar (2022) and KÖY (2024) • Name of the Year (2022) • Composer of the Year, awarded to Luna Ersahin (2022)
In addition, they received the Carl Prize as Composer of the Year in the Roots category, which cements AySay's position as one of Denmark's most innovative and original bands.
Captivating Releases Their second album, KÖY, was released in October 2023 and is an enchanting tribute to cultural heritage. The album builds on the success of the debut album Su Akar (2021) and shows AySay's artistic development. With its rich soundscapes and enchanting melodic themes, KÖY renews world music for a global audience and draws inspiration from both new and old legends such as Altin Gün, Derya Yildirim, Selda Bagcan, and Aynur Dogan.
A Global Presence AySay's music reaches far beyond Denmark's borders. Their strong live performances and genre-breaking sound have delighted audiences at renowned festivals such as Roskilde Festival (DK), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Les Escales (France), Eurosonic (Netherlands), and Reeperbahn (Germany). Their tours have brought them to, among others, Canada, France, Germany, Scandinavia, and Greenland, where they have built a strong international audience.
