A Tribute to Jacob Gade // Concert with Niklas Walentin

In 2025, it will be 100 years since Jacob Gade's famous 'Tango Jalousie' was first performed. The melody quickly gained popularity worldwide and became one of the most played pieces in music history. However, Jacob Gade composed much more than just his famous tango. We will have the opportunity to experience this when violinist Niklas Walentin, accompanied by a pianist, interprets Jacob Gade's music. Throughout the performance, Walentin will share stories about the composer's life, musical work, and the history behind the immortal Tango Jalousie. The concert will feature both well-known melodies and lesser-known compositions, along with stories about the man behind the music.

This concert is also a tribute to one of Vejle's most prominent cultural figures. Jacob Gade has had three rooms named after him at ENGEN, and the concert is part of the house's opening program.

About Niklas Walentin: Niklas Walentin is an internationally recognized Danish-Swiss violinist who has performed on concert stages around the world. He has received numerous awards and honors, including from the Jacob Gade Foundation, and has released several albums of classical music.

In 2025, he released the album 'Jalousie' with Philharmonie Südwestfalen, conducted by Nabil Shehata. The album commemorates the 100th anniversary of Tango Jalousie and tells the story of Jacob Gade and his compositions for solo violin and orchestra through music.
